URBAN WARRIOR FIGHTING ASSOCIATION

"Technique rather than strength, Spirit rather than Technique"

One of the many Goals of Souseiki Ryu is the physical, mental and spiritual growth of its members. We provide you with the program, supervision and atmosphere that will allow you to realize your full potential for growth and achievement.

Competition is with your self not with others. We are not concerned with being better or worse than someone else. Our concern is that each day, when you leave you are a little better than when you came.

Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen Shigaisen in translation means:  Souseiki- Time of creation, Ryu -School Sekkinsen- Close combat; close (-quarter) fighting; in-fighting Shigaisen- Street fighting.

The Urban Warrior Training Academy in Afghanistan is focused on training individuals for real-life combat situations. Although a lot of the techniques can be adapted to MMA, Submission Grappling and the like, the hardcore emphasis is on developing survival techniques for the streets or combative situation, where there really are no rules. We do not teach traditional martial arts weapons like Sais, Samurai Swords, and 3 section nunchaks because it takes years to really master them and when are you going to have them for quick use anyway?  Our training is harder  than most traditional martial arts schools, the emphasis is to get the student used to personal violence. Fighting is hard and it is at times very painful. A lot of  schools go through the motions and the student  just practices robotic movements on a compliant partner and then when they get into an actual confrontation they are lost because their technique did not work. We practice all techniques live so the student knows what will work and what will not. We work to produce a total paradigm shift in the thinking of the students when it comes to combat so the chaos becomes their calm. We teach improvised weapons training using articles of clothing as weapons, knife fighting, stick fighting, disarming techniques for knives, sticks and guns. We teach body conditioning, something else you won’t see in a lot of other schools because it hurts but, at the same time it is essential to anyone practicing a combat art. If you can't hit someone without doing damage to yourself, what is the point in practicing the art and if you are not conditioned to take hits yourself you are equally going to be in as much peril.

One last caveat, there is no 8,000 sq.ft facility with a full assortment of pads. The training is real we don’t use pads for kicking and punching unless it is for full force strike training exercise. We don’t strike to the face with punches but in Kumite kicks are allowed to the head. We have trained Special Forces Personnel to the regular person just learning self-defense. If you are ever in Afghanistan and want to train and develop or improve your skills in real life combat contact us.
