URBAN WARRIOR TRAINING ACADEMY Urban fighting system is a survival strategy that emphasizes real street and combative problems, an emphasis on realistic training to survive and employing an “any thing goes attitude”, and the use of tactical footwork and fighting stances that maximize mobility, many combat hand strikes and kicks, an eye gouges and lower body attacks, and finger breaks, takedowns, joint locks and throws, an intense, Non-submission, non scholastic wrestling based ground fighting. On the battlefield or the street, the tactical fighter tries to avoid going to the ground. He/She learns intense ground-fighting techniques only as secondary use in a situation in which he/she falls or is pulled down. ![]() ![]() Our system also:

Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen: is a non-classical, American martial art focusing on self-defense and realistic Street situational training. It incorporates the traditional values of the martial arts, advocates use of Dignity and Respect, and embraces the warrior spirit of the American Warrior. The "Basis" of Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen, it's technical foundation, is derived from Ten martial art disciplines: Black Dragon Kungfu, Wrestling, Jujitsu, Red Tiger Kung fu, Muay Thai, Street Fighting, Kyokushinkai karate, Shotokan Karate, Judo and Boxing. Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen utilizes fast and powerful hand strikes; low level kicks; grappling skills such as throws, jointlocks, chokes, and pressure points. Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen focuses on the practical, use of street weapons such as wood staffs of different sizes, edged weapons (knife),. Martial arts breathing techniques are taught, along with the development of internal energy. Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen uses both the hard and soft concepts of the martial arts in order to achieve maximum efficiency in reality and personal protection. ![]() Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen is referred to as an "open minded system" martial art because, in addition to its own "Basis" group of techniques, it also incorporates techniques and concepts from other martial arts, which eventually become part of its “widened system", as an “widened system ", Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen allows qualified black belts from other martial art styles to cross rank their belts into Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen. This gives them the opportunity for advanced training and promotion to higher black belt levels in Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen, while still maintaining the heritage of their original style by utilizing the flexibilities of the “widened system “in Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen. The strength and growth of Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen comes from the simplistic efficiency and devastating effectiveness of its "core" techniques, as well as from the diversity of its black belts and of the various other martial arts that are incorporated into its "extended system." The “Basis” system provides Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen its identity and stability, and the "extended" system of Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen provides change and growth through research, development and inclusion of new techniques and concepts. Principles of Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen: Simplicity....simple and direct execution of techniques with no fancy or wasted moves, flashy acrobatic moves which detract from the reality of the street, individuality....adaptation of techniques so they work efficiently for the individual, focus on street....focus on realistic, street related training for self-defense in the street, void of rituals and aesthetics, open-minded....maintaining the core system, while incorporating techniques and concepts from other martial arts that contribute to overall street efficiency, Goju....blending of the hard (go) and the soft (ju) martial art techniques, adapting....adapting to the three ranges of combat (punching, kicking, and grappling), and adapting to opponents with different fighting backgrounds.
Respect....promote respect and understanding of all other martial arts and black belts; use of protocol and titles; and provide an atmosphere of brotherhood within Souseiki Ryu Sekkinsen, and among its friends and affiliate martial art organizations.

Please be respectful of our students and instructors by remaining quiet and non-disruptive. Heart As I often said it is all about your heart whether it is genuine or deceptive. We have many people that can play that roll of integrity and honesty until they get what they want and the true person materialize. If you have something that they want an individual will play that roll until they are successful, you mean nothing to them except a means to the cause. When you teach you must recognize this and teach accordingly for there are times when the true person always show up and you must pay strict attention to this.
Observation is always on going, you are about to give something that is priceless. The years that I have been teaching you can feel that person and understand them, but you must pay strict attention to the signs, not everyone will be a Black Belt or a true member of the Academy if you want to just be a Black Belt there are many styles that will take your money and put up with your heart. In this system we do not want your money we want the intangibles, Integrity, loyalty, compassion and hard work and most of all a good heart.
And not everyone can be a member!!!

False Sense of Accomplishment Do not ask any one on how well you are doing Hanshi
Many times we as Martial Artists are constantly striving for that perfect move, that perfect application for the perfect situation, but in reality it never comes out that way, why is that do you ask? Reality training is your answer. How many times have you been to see a demonstration where the demonstrator has you punch and kick certain way in which he does these fancy moves and you are all impressed by the way he defends himself, or even better yet they find a person with the least amount of experience to be demonstrated on. Throughout my years of studying the arts I have seen these types of shows all over the world. You are so taken by what you have seen you start studying and learning all of theses techniques and then all of a sudden you come into harms way and the technique or techniques do not work! Then the reality sets in nothing works! All this hard training and time spent; you believe that your techniques work due to the fact that they work in the Dojo or in a point tournament or on a willing friend. The problem with all of this is that you have never trained your techniques in a reality situation and I am not talking about putting on Head gear, Shin Guards, gloves a cup and a mouthpiece. You should have a day when anything goes live attacks but stop short of serious injury. Train this way often enough so that it becomes 2nd nature. Once you start training this way you will start noticing how people move differently and how to use proper attacks and counter attacks. But remember, Combat training is what it is combat training, and you are training to engage with the enemy to inflict bodily harm and even death! So when you are studying a Martial Art that says Combat training, remember what Combat is and you are not in a combat zone! And that you should be training in reality situations for self preservation for yourself and loved ones and that is effective Self Defense. Hanshi Leon D. The Temple Everyday when I tour my sites I am always thinking of possible situations that might happen and what will I do next! One of the many things that I teach my students is what is next there is always a way to solve any situation! That has many meanings; examples are life situations, self defense or combative situations. When I see people constantly over estimating there target or thinking that it could never happen to them, I am ashamed of their teachings, because one day we all become old and feeble not as tough as we used to be that could stand up and take a hard strike and can handle any situation based only with our physical Strength, but we should become much wiser and more disciplined on our approach on life and on what is next as we grow older!
I watched an individual fight in an event that he thought because of his past triumphs in his previous sport, that he would walk right in and continue in this sport just like he did in his other sport, HE FAILED!!! I looked at it as if his was fighting on the streets or in a combative situation, because of his arrogance and lack of real training he would have been taken out and his loved ones with him as well! As we train or bodies we must totally focus on our spiritual well being! It is not what comes into you that make you great! It is all about what comes out of you and that is your spirit! Allot of students through the years would ask me about that and I would always talk about your walk!
You must train yourself to get to the point of your own understanding. When I teach this Art I teach it to your own understanding and no one else’s your battles is yours alone! We may train together, live together but fight a different fight!
